Homemade Baby Food

My sweet little Liam turned 6 months old back in Dec. and we finally started on some solid foods. I decided when I was pregnant that I wanted to try and make his purees for him when it was time to start him on solids. I thought it was going to be hard at first, but it was definitely very easy. Plus it makes a lot at once and you can freeze it for later. It's also a lot cheaper than buying the jar stuff at the store. Here's the recipe/directions for homemade carrots.

Homemade Carrot Purees:

- 1 package of carrots
- 1/4 cup of water

1) Wash, peel, & cut the ends off of your carrots
2) Cut them into smaller chunks, then steam them until the are soft

3) Transfer your carrots to a food processor or blender

4) Add 1/4 cup of water & blend until smooth

5) Put the yummy carrots into a container and feed your baby as needed. I put the extra in an ice cube tray and freeze it. Then pop them out and put them in freezer bags and pull them out as I need them.

** I usually take out a cube and let it thaw about an hour or 2 before feeding it to Liam

Homemade green pea purees:

- 1 bag of green peas (I used the Great Value steamable sweet peas)
- 1/4 cup of water

1) Follow the directions on the bag and steam the peas accordingly

2) Put the steamed peas in the food processor or blender

3) Add the water & blend until smooth

4) Put the leftovers into an ice cube tray & freeze for later use =)

He loved it! =) def. his fav!

Homemade Sweet Potato Purees:

- 3 sweet potatoes (you can use more or less depending on how much you wanna make)
- 1/4 cup of water (adjust according to how thick/thinned out you want your puree to be)

1) Wash and cut the sweet potatoes into small cubes
- I never realized how hard it is to cut
a sweet potato!! lol so be careful!

2) Put the potato cubes into a pot and steam until soft

3) Add soften potatoes into food processor with 1/4 cup (or more) of water
and blend until you get the consistency that you want

4) Put leftovers in ice cube trays and freeze for later use =)
