April showers.......

Bring May flowers ;) That saying is so true because it's been raining like crazy lately here. I feel like April has came and about to be gone in a blink of an eye! On the plus side, all this rain is helping my flowers bloom like crazy! =) I kept telling myself that I was going to write this blog post, and had to keep putting it off because it's been such a crazy busy month for us. This month included our 4 year anniversary, a trip to Memphis, lots of photoshoots, and of course, lots of rain.

my gorgeous irises!
Jason & I celebrated our 4th anniversary by doing a day trip to Memphis, TN.... which is only 2 hours from where we are. We made this a day trip because Jason has to save all his leave days for our big trip at the end of the year, plus we needed to save money for those plane tickets also. Flying across the world isn't cheap lol. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me back track a little.... I woke up on our anniversary and found my favorite flowers sitting at our breakfast table, and of course, Jay had breakfast from one of my favorite local restaurants here and coffee waiting on me as well. =)

We didn't do much that day since Jason's weird schedule has him working awkward hours -_- But I did make him his favorite dinner that night to celebrate =) He lovessss coconut shrimp, but I hate making it because it takes forever, plus it's really messy to make lol. So he only gets it on special occasions ;) haha

Our anniversary was on a Thursday, and Jason was able to get that Friday off of work so we were able to enjoy a nice 3 day weekend together. Although we had to take Liam to see an allergist that Friday... but that's another story that I will update on later.

Anyways, that Saturday we left early to head to Memphis.

We knew where our first stop would be, and that's the Memphis zoo! Liam knows all his animals now and is old enough to REALLY enjoy the zoo, so we knew he would absolutely love it, which he did! =) One plus thing about the Memphis zoo (that I didn't know about beforehand) is that it's a zoo & an aquarium together! So you're paying one price to see two attractions! Tip: if you're military, make sure you buy your tickets in advance on base at the ITT (information, tickets, & travel) office because they do not give military discounts at the gate. -_-

Looking at the hippos.
He didn't care too much for the pandas, but I loved them :)

How is he getting so big already :(

trying to climb the fence to play with the elephants lol
looking at the rhinos

One neat thing they had at this zoo is the camel rides! I think they only offer it at certain times of the year & certain hours of the days so make sure you check their calendar if you're interested in it! We lucked out and happened to be there at the exact time they were opening. I was so nervous about putting Liam on the camel at first because I thought he would be scared and want off, but to my surprise, he absolutely LOVED it! He wanted back on as soon as they got off lol. Not even 2 yrs old yet and he can cross off "riding a camel" from his bucket list ;)

my handsome and me =)
All the excitement of the zoo wore him out!
We didn't get to go through the aquarium since Liam passed out from all the excitement of the animals, and we wanted to make it to the next attraction before it closes. We will most likely be back at this zoo in the near future since it's not that far from us, so hopefully we will get to visit the aquarium next time.

Next up, we hit up Graceland for a little bit of Elvis history!

Now, I love Elvis and all, but to me, Graceland was not worth it at all! especially when you have a toddler who doesn't like to sit still lol. We were not allowed to have strollers in the mansion, so I ended up having to carry Liam throughout the tour. Why didn't I just let him walk you ask? Well if you have a toddler, you prob. know why. He's a very curious little boy & I def. did not want him touching and breaking anything in that house lol. Anyways, everyone gets an ipad & headphones for the tour & since I was carrying Liam & trying to keep him still, I wasn't able to listen to the tour at all. My advice: don't bring a toddler on this part of the tour lol. OR bring a carrier of some sort (not stroller). I forgot mine in the car so it was a sad sad day lol. oh & buy your tickets ahead of time! It's so expensive there! Def. was not worth it to me, but that's just my opinion. But def. go if you're an Elvis fan! You might have a different experience than I did. One plus thing though, I did enjoy looking at all his stuff inside the mansion, even if I didn't get to listen to the actual tour.

Liam's fav. part of the tour... the bus ride over to the mansion lol

Liam & daddy enjoyed the car museum portion of our tour
After a nice, long, fun day, we were ready to get our grub on! We found this little seafood place called Soul Fish Cafe while searching for another restaurant that we had planned on going to (long story to that). But I'm so glad we decided to stop here to eat instead. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful as well.

Our final stop on our day trip was to this amazingly yummy donut shop called Gibson's Donuts! I had read reviews about this place before and knew we had to stop by to get some donuts before making our trip home.

SO many choices!
Liam picking out his donut :)
He ended up picking a chocolate sprinkled donut, which he loved!
I ended up getting a "samoa cookie" donut, which was DELISH!! and Jason got an oreo donut.
There were so many different selections and they were all pretty decently priced. I def. recommend stopping by here for some donuts if you're in the Memphis area =) I wish we had more time to explore Memphis, but I'm sure we'll be back since it's not too far from us. =)
